Below-freezing winter weather is back, and forecasters don’t think the ice will move from area waterways for at least another week. The Venango County region braced for heavy downpours over the weekend, but less rain fell than was expected. Weather experts believed some of the ice cover from the Allegheny River and nearby creeks and streams would shove out Saturday and Sunday, but only minor increases in water levels were reported.
